RE: Unwanted visitors

I haven't seen your setup George, but it doesn't seem likely that they could
get out without swimming with the killies.

I set up a 55 gallon tank a couple of months ago that I have filled half
way with water. A trip to the woods presented me with a couple of dried
pieces of wood that I screwed together to come above the surface of the
water. Java fern and anubias grow both below and on the logs. The anubias
leaves above the water don't get any nasty algae, and the roots make neat
hiding places for my E. dageti and F. gardneri misaje.
The other day when I was weeding some volunteer mushrooms of the log and
making some great new anubias starts, I spotted a white crawly coming out of
the log. TERMITES! Haven't confessed to the wife yet. The tank is pretty
tightly covered, yet a tree frog managed to get out. Any body think the
termites are (or more likely will) going to be making me trouble? I don't
want to mess with the tank, but I guess it is just a matter of time before
they eat themselves out of house and home and have to go looking elsewhere.
If I could catch them they probably make great killi food.
