In my very limited experience in hatching killies, I have found that my notho 
fry did much better when I left the peat in the hatching container.  As the 
fry grew I added more water and every day I would siphon some of the peat.  
Eventually, all of the loose peat would be gone about the time that I wanted 
to transfer the fry to a larger tank.
