Re: NOTHO EGGS
I use Silver Sand or beach sand from a very special bay which
is very fine & soft. I don't wash it but put it straight into the set up.
Results are very good (it works for me).
After a week or two take the fish & cover out, stir the
sand up vigorously & allow to settle. Pass a fine mesh net through the tank
in a figure 8 motion to collect eggs. Repeat this a few times to get most eggs
out.
You will be suprised at just how many eggs can be
collected.
Put these eggs into a small 1 litre tank for a week to sort
out bad eggs & store the good eggs in peat (or coconut fibre as sold in our
garden centres) in one lot or multiples to send out for exchanges
etc.
The coconut fibre is also good for white worm/grindal as it's
fluffy & can be washed out in a fine meshed net to get rid of built up waste
which will eventually kill the culture off.
