Re: Rose by any other name is wrong.

Maintaining data on the strain's original heritage is worthwhile. I recently posted a message asking for into on A. louessense RPC33. Some where, some how, there must be infor on that particular strain and it's collection. Perhaps there are some hand written notes in the collector's drawer that will never find the light of day. Or maybe the information was published in an old journal or newsletter somewhere. I wish I could et my hands on it so it could be added to the strain's family tree.

It's by no coincidence that most of the locationj code corrections on this list are from Brian Waters. He's the collector of many Nothos in the hobby and he aslo makes it a point to track the haritage of those he didn't collect. We are fortunate to have such a resource available to us. We are further blessed that Brian invests the time to maintain the Notho database on the AKA web site. I doubt you'll find a more accurate source of this type anywhere in the hobby or in the professional libraries.

Roger Langton's massive effort to maintain the KMI is a huge undertaking and also is an invaluable resource to the hobby. The distinction between the two, Roger and Brian, is that Brian also brings the collection information. This is something Roger can't do because he was not the collector. But what a wonderful resouce we could have if the collection codes could be matched up with the collectors notes!
