Re: Age in the Killifish Hobby
I think that a lot of people don't become focused on something like keeping
killifish until they're over 30. Like others on this list, I started keeping
fish when I was about 10, and belonged to the AKA when I was 14 in 1967-68.
I had no success with the fish (Aphyosemions in this case) and dropped
killies for a while. But I always kept fish off and on, going to college and
then playing in bands and generally joining the revolution. I think I was
the only aquarist in a punk band in Boston in the late 70s/early 80s. It was
my interest in fish and environmental issues that drew me back to graduate
school in the 80s, and then I started keeping and collecting killifish
again. I guess I had to get out the rock and rolls first...
