RE: Age in the killie hobby
The membership committee tracks the age of the membership in the database.
We don't have that much data available because the majority of the
membership declines to fill out the age portion of their membership
applications and renewals.
Speaking of an aging membership, I wonder how people have left something in
their last will and testament for the AKA?

Subject: Re: Age in the killie hobby
We do exist (I am somewhere int he transition between the genX and baby
boomer crowd) . All that follows is true, and not meant as a retort,
flame, or anything more than an introduction of a youngish killie
breeder...
I am under 40. Former editor of the Honolulu Aquarium Society's
newsletter, web master, and research collaborator (fish things at
UH-Manoa). I keep Procatopus nototaenia, P. similis, various
Rivulus, Aphyosemion, and Epiplatys. I also working out the kinks in
rotifer/moina culture for replacement of artemia. Unfortunatly, unlike the
oldtimers I am working full time, (odd rotating shifts, overtime) and can
go weeks between actually getting to do more than feed my fish. I am sort
of renting my own home from my wife's family, want to farm part time, and
heavens help us someday start a family. What started my facination with
killies was a little green book, with color photos of fish I would have
never seen in my small home town (Actually remember being facinated by the
Golden Pheasant, A occidentalis and wanted to try and keep them, not
knowing their reputation for being feisty). I do consider myself somewhat
of an eccentric. So, do i meet all criteria to be a "serious
killies-keeper"? I would like to help out in the AKA, but I don't think I
can offer much because of my geographical isolation from the majority of
the membership.
