Re: Future Direction of the AKA bring on the young people
It is always well to encourage youngsters and many AKA members are doing just
that. Don't be discouraged, Larry as the AKA has always averaged older
hobbyists. This has been confirmed a number of times by our annual
questionnaires (Please answer them as the BOT uses those statistics and
information, honest). I don't know the reason but suspect it has to do with
several factors such as killies are egg layers that require some special
techniques and care and they tend to be difficult to obtain as they are not
readily available in the fish stores. I believe EVERY killifish keeper I have
met had commenced the tropical fish hobby with more simple fish and worked
their way up (or down) to keeping killifish.
Let's just spread the word and make the fish available. This technology has
been a tremendous help and will continue to be even more important in the
future. We must remember, however, this is only a much improved form of
COMMUNICATION. The rest is up to us, so keep talking about killies and long
live the AKA.
