community killies

KI>I would like to get some opinions. I know that some killies will do well in
KI>a tank with other fish (small tetras). What suggestions do people have for
KI>colorful, not shy, killies that whould not mind some non-killie tankmates.
KI>The tank is a 15 gallon tank.

I would recommend many of the Fp. gardneri locations. makrudi red has
done well for me in my more peaceful community tanks. They can be nippy,
however (much like a barb) so I wouldn't put them in with slow moving or
long finned fishes.

Depending on how small your small tetras are, you might also try some of
the epiplatys species (lamottei comes to mind) or Aplocheilus (lineatus,
blocki, dayi) and Panchax/Pachypanchax types. These have all proven to
be hardy and peaceful in my rough and tumble community tanks as long as
there was nothing small enough for them to swallow. Many of these
species get rather large (for killies)-- I have lineatus and
Pachypanchax omolonotus that are 4" SL.

Just my 2 cents.
