I keep opened cans in the freezer, I take a teaspoon straight from the opened 
can or jar that I keep them in and put it straight into the hatcher in the 
frozen condition and - voila - 12 -18 hours later they hatch.
I have kept saome open cans in the freezer for close to a year and have not 
noticed any reduction in hatch ratios.
