Re: Acrobat
Overall, adobe acrobat is probably the best overall format for a number of
reasons:
1. It is the only format, other than plain text, which is readable on just
about any platform.
2. Yes, you can copy and paste text and/or URLs from an acrobat file, unless
the creator of the file has delibertly disabled that function by using the
security functions of acrobat exchange
3. It can be printed as formatted by anyone receiving the file
4. It saves the AKA time and money by reducing mailing costs, printing
costs, and labor. This savings could, in part, be rebated to the members in
the form of a dues decrease for those electing to receive the BNL
electronically rather than on paper. It would also free up more funds for
educational programs, acquisition of fish for N&R, and production of quality
killifish literature
I suggest that a referendum be held by including a ballot in a BNL offering
the membership a choice among three options:
1. Simply changing the BNL over to 100% electronic distribution by a fixed
date (1/1/2001)
2. Adopting email as the primary distribution channel, but allowing members
to pay more for hardopy BNLs sent via USPS
3. Retaining the current system
