Re: Los Angeles this Friday and Saturday

In that case, I can make a few recommendations for places to check out in
Los Angeles :)

1)The Long Beach aquarium of the Pacific. New (1.5 yr old) public aquarium
in Long Beach. Mostly temperate coastal water exhibits, with a handful of
tropical reef displays. Also one of a handful of aquariums worldwide that
keeps leafy seadragons and weedy seadragons. Their tank would make the cost
of admission worthwhile even if it were the only exhibit in the facility.

2)Aquatic Depot, 423 S Hindry in Inglewood (right off the 405 freeway, 5
minutes from LAX). This is a wholesale operation that's open to the public.
About 33% of their stock is freshwater, with the remainder split fairly
evenly between saltwater fish and invertebrates. Also several large (1000
gallon+) display tanks. Park in back and walk right in.

3)Piece of the Reef, Rancho Cucamonga. About an hour away from LAX, see
www.pieceofthereef.com for directions. Retail operation, but nice.

Oh yeah, good mexican food is everywhere out here, but I like El Torito in
Marina Del Rey. Nice view of the water from their dining room, too.
