Hair algae & driftwood
Hola Alberto,
I have the same occurance in my planted Discus tank and have not found a
solution other than removing the driftwood after the algae begins to show
up which is usually after 30 days or so. I have found that frequent water
changes help but I still remove the driftwood and let it dry out for a few
months before puting it back. The driftwood I have was purchased in a local
fish store and was called "Mopani wood". I assume that it is adding
phosphorous to the water amongst other things but have not tested for it.
There may be other woods that can be used that don't do that but at the
first signs of algae I usually remove the wood or swap it for a different
piece.
