i have a pair of Aphyosemion nigerianum "p82". They wont
breed! They were in
a 10 gallon and i was told to decrese the size of their tank
~ so they are
now in a 2.5 gallon bowl. the temp is an average of 73
degrees. They eat
flakes, live food, and brime shrimp ~ they wont eat blood
worms. Why arent
they breeding? What can I do to encourage them?

Thanks alot ~
Christine

Christine,

I have bred gar p-82's for many years.
Here is what I have found that works for me.
Raise the temp to 74-76 degrees.
Water chemistry is not critical. Just clean with regular
water changes. I have well water at a ph 7.4. I know people
who have great success with Detroit city water which is 7.0
or _less_.
Seperate the fish for a week and then change the water. Put
the male with the female and then pick eggs from the mop
every day.
You did not state how old the fish are. I don't expect much
before they are at least 6-9 months old. As they approach a
year they start producing fertile eggs consistantly.
I am suprised they won't eat blood worms, mine get blood
worms every other day usually.
