BOUNCE killietalk at aka_org: Non-member submission from ["Ely, John" <JEly at lockeliddell_com>]

Airstones that produce fine bubbles move more water than those that produce
coarse bubbles, if I'm not mistaken. Lift tubes pump because the mixture of
water and air in them is lighter than "solid" water, causing the mixture to
move up the lift tube. The fine bubbling airstones put more air into a given
volume of water, making it lighter than a column of water mixed with coarser
bubbles.
