It comes as crystals and 1/2 inch pellets. The latter is more common and 
easier to find and works fine. It dissolves quickly with agitation. I just 
put in 10 pellets in a 2 liter soda bottle for hatching brine shrimp. I put 6 
tablespoonsful (about 30 pellets) in 20 gallons of water for changing fish 
tanks. The crystals dissolve a little quicker and are easier to measure in a 
tablespoon.
