Eggs or fish for a newbie?

Hey, all!

I'm planning on launching myself into the world of killies (probably
starting with A. striatum) and I have noticed that most breeders offer to
sell both eggs and fish, so I'm tempted to buy eggs from someone and raise
them up, but not having done this before I'm unsure how likely I am to end
up with a bunch of dead eggs rather than fish.

I have been breeding Dwarf gouramis until recently (*very* tiny fry) so I
have a set up for brine shrimp nauplii and vinegar eel cultures going.
However, dwarf gourami eggs hatch easily by the hundreds, so I'm not sure
how different hatching out A.striatum will be.  TIA
