Re: Sex change in fish
>>I have read in the past about apparent sex changes in a number of fish.<<
Are the examples of nothos changing gender ...
(a) Real physiological changes where a fertile female actually becomes a fertile male?
(b) Real changes where a fertile female adopts a male posture and appearance but is still physically a female?
(c) Subordinate males that adopted a female appearance in the presence of a dominant male that takes on a normal male appearance once the dominant male is removed?
(I know that (c) happens in the cichlid world.)
Curious minds want to know. :-)
