At school we keep 2 1qt jars of culture. they have lids set loosly on top. they
are kept in the dark but last year were on a window ledge. We did experivent last
year and found our most productive ratrio was 5:1 with cider vinegar being the 1.
we also put a little chopped apple in the bottom. ours do not smell enough that it
is noticable. Maybe instead of apple some Beano should be added to the culture.
