Re: KillieTalk Digest V3 #60

Anyone out there who can provide some basic information about preserving eggs
- or preventing the formation of fungi of two basic types, a cottony
metasisizing around the egg (looking something like snow flakes) and a
blackening of the eggs. Relying on some technical data I absorbed a few
years ago, I've been using methyl blue and Aquari-sol, but still having these
problems. I'm relatively new to the hobby (1 to 3 years at it) and not sure
about how to increase egg production with A. walkeri spurelli; N.
guentheri;  N. patrizii; N. palmqvisti;  A. australe, gold;  N. rubripinnis;
A. xiphidius; A. diapterons (georg. and cyn.); A. poliaki,etc.   I've order
fish with spotty hatching yields and raised a handful of the fish listed
above with inconsistent outcomes. Would deeply appreciate info about pH,
temperatures, gathering media and - especially, some chemical means to save
the gathered eggs. (I've kept most of the gathered eggs, Nothos and
Aphysemions, etc. in small test tubes with the methyl blue and aquari-sol-
but may be more effective to move the eggs early to peat, rather than leave
in liquid medium). Looking forward to any help. Please contact me at
doclbg at cs_com. Thanks --- Les
