Re: January BNL cool article - quality of old KN's

         Dear Gang,
Someone raised the issue that the old KN's and JAKA's would
be in too rough of a condition to use to make scanned copies. I don't think
so. Most of my issues from '68-'74 on KN's and '74-'79 on JAKA are in great
condition. A very few are torn or suffered some water damage. Those still
made excellent copies when xeroxed. I'm pretty sure the complete set of AKA
material charter member Dick Haas sent Richard Martino for the club's use
will be in excellent shape -- so we probably already have the materials to
use. If not, Neil Frank was offering a pretty complete set of all AKA
publications in the Jare Sausaman library sell on the net. It was $2,000, I
believe, and if an individual has not already bought it, I think the BOT
should take the issue up, contact Neil Frank, and have the AKA buy the
collection for the good of the club. Even a re-issue of all the old
publications as high-quality xerox copies would be nice. My old 60's - 70's
JAKA's -- when it was purely a scientific publication -- are in perfect
condition and were printed on high quality glossy paper like so many academic
journals.
I agree with the suggestion to have the CD made by an outside firm
for the AKA as the ACA did-- maybe contact the ACA and use the some company.
I imagine the CD would sell well, especially if the members knew just how
wonderful the old information truly is.
This is all very interesting. It seems that all over the hobby,
people are becoming concerned with its history and what has been unavailable
and forgotten for too long. I'm working on articles on the early killie
breeders in the AKA. These guys are great.
