I am now convinced of the need for scientific names to pinpoint which species is being considered regardless of a common name that may be only regional. I am just still trying to figure out the difference between daces and shiners, etc. as a group and will have to just force myself to look primarily at the scientific nomenclature. I am still in awe as to the variety of fishes we have in N. America.
