Subject: Help!! Sick Puffer....
Received this message today. Don't have an answer for her. Wasn't there a
discussion here recently about puffers? Seems like there was someone out
there who knew something about them. Please speak up. As far as I know,
Jenny is not on the list, so direct replies to her address,
jenny.francis at uk_pwcglobal.com, and to me. Thanks.
Memo from Jenny A. Francis of PricewaterhouseCoopers
-------------------- Start of message text --------------------
We have a freshwater puffer fish (at least that what we think it is!) I
has a green/yellow back and pale yellow belly, a yellow and black tail and
is about 5 inches long. We got him about four months ago and he has been
very healthy. We feed him on cockles (in shell), muscles, prawns etc.
About a week ago we had to put some acquarium salt into the tank to treat a
fungal infection on some Mollies. Since then the puffer (n. Malibu!) has
stopped eating and is very inactive. I can't find anyone who knows much
about them?
Do you think the salt is the problem? Do you know what temperature range
it can withstand? I have a very healthy freshwater non-tropical acquaroum
which I could transfer him to if this might help (this tank is at room temp
around 24 deg).
Can you help?
