Daily water change is a bit much.  I think it is important to a touch of rock salt and use a bigger containers for raising frys.  1g shoebox is too small, ideally 3g sweaterbox.

changes, I do them religiously every week except for fry which I start 
with a little water and keep adding water every couple of days until 
they are ready for a 50%+ weekly water change which is what I do on all 
my tanks. I'm an advocate of water changes... specially since I use no 
filters on most of my tanks.

If it takes daily water changes to raise this fry... then daily water 
changes will be...
