Re: [Killietalk] Re-use of peat
Why is boiling peat a bad idea? I'm curious as on this side of the pond it
seems like everyone does it.
Keith
Lee brings up a good point in re-using peat. I really wish I could get my
'Kick Start' product over to the US but it's too unstable in flight, being a
strong acid base.
One drop completely kills every living thing in the peat rendering it safe
for use in a different sp. tank. Just give the peat a quick swill under a
tap. A 45 second exposure will kill all embryos & 60 seconds just about all
else.
It cannot be diluted to give this potency unfortunately. Boiling peat is
never a good idea.
