I have reused peat occasionally in the past. I did not see a difference, but I do not reâuse it any more, for no good reason, except, I would not reuse it without boiling it to assure no left over eggs. I also believe that there may be worms and mites in the peat that should be killed and there are also beneficial materials in fresher peat. I have no proof of either of these beliefs. On the other hand, I went through a phase where I carefully transferred eggs from the spawning medium (peat) to newly sterilized peat. The results were poorer than when I collected the peat and eggs from the tank without separating.
