[Killietalk] RE: Fish Room
David,
I use racks I got at Home Depot made by Edsal Manufacturing (NOT the ones
made by Gorilla (?), which are a bit flimsy). They are 18 inches wide and
come in 6' lengths (but the manufacturer says they are available in 4, 5 or
6 ft via special order through HD). They are tough to find, as only a few
Home Depots in any area will have them at any given time, but the customer
service desk can look them up and tell you which HDs in the area have them,
at least in their computer inventory. These racks are rated for 5000 lbs
total, and 1500 lbs/shelf. they go together in about 5 minutes. I have a
friend that has a 150 gallon tank on the bottom shelf, and a 125 gallon tank
on the shelf above it. I fit, with some space to spare, 8x 5.5 gallon tanks
on a shelf, and 6 10 gallon tanks. I use the extra space on each shelf to
fit food, Novaqua bottles, live food cultures, etc. The other good thing is
that lengthwise, one end piece will support 2 racks, which saves a few extra
inches.
