I guess I showed my ignorance in my first message. Since then several
freinds have e-mailed me off site and explained the Bilbrough award and the
changes made to it. Before and during the convention I heard or read
many complaints that we need more entries at the convention. To me, that
means getting those who have never showed to enter. I don't believe that
a system counting only winners can accomplished that. It only makes sense
that vetern showpersons have a much better chance of winning than a
newcomer, though a newbie may get lucky once. A system counting total
entries would do more to spawn friendly competition between clubs and
within clubs in my opinion. The question is, do you want more entries?
Or do you want better fish? I would think that more entries would
eventually lead to better fish as we beginners in showing learn what is
expected. Friendly banter and challenges on killietalk before the
convention could become commonplace.
