[Killietalk] Kids & killies
Howdy,
Gimme a lil "topic expansion" here ya'll, here is the abridged version:
I know some past chatter has been about the "future" and getting kids
involved, so I'm kinda surprised nobody got my "adult pokemon" inference
(ez now, I'm being lighthearted <smile>).
Basically, that was where I was angling in some of my previous post:
trading "stuff" with other people is fun! and likewise: finding stuff
for trading is just as fun. The search for trade material however should
be "challenging" not "artificially impossible"... (Hence all the prior
needling about exposing our wares!)
So perchance if we are to attack the issue of getting "younger" in a
mostly adult hobby, then my approach would be "kid-to-kid": get them
talking, socializing and most importantly, "trading" killies amongst
themselves (just like baseball cards, only 5X more educational!)...Hey,
look at the pokemeon phenomena, video games, MP3's, et et, don't take
kids long to form their own lil social networks around a tangible
"media", so long as it's stimulating...
Adults can do the introduction & support, but beyond that, our
involvement lowers the fun meter substantially...
I didn't wanna have to spell it out (as the best ideas are the ones that
make you think YOU thought of it!) <SMILE> read the past post, that's
been pretty much my angle all along...lata...Ken
