Hello,
I am writing to you to explain some of the problems with killietalk that we
have had in the last week.
Over the last months we have had problems with certain large ISPs
apparently blocking messages from killietalk. After trying in vain to solve
them, Ken Simolo, my co-administrator of killietalk, and I decided to move
the list to the AKA server. Until recently, the list had been on a server
at actwin.com. This apparently solved the problems of ISPs blocking the
list, but we ran into a new problem. Namely, there is an undocumented
limitation of the AKA server in that there is a limit on email traffic that
is allowed. This amounts to 200 messages per hour and, with 585
subscribers, we obviously exceed that.
In the meantime, I would like to get a feel for the number of people who
are not getting messages from killietalk. You may be getting intermittent
messages, but you will need to look at the archives, by going to
www.aka.org, clicking on Killietalk, then on the link to the archives.
Peruse the archives to see whether you are getting all of the messages.
Please consider only those sent in the last couple of days (e.g. since
5/31). If you see messages that you have NOT received, please email me
privately to let me know.
I want to assure you that Ken and I are working hard to find the best
solution to this problem. In the meantime, you may wish to use the forums
on the AKA site as a substitute.
Regards,
Barry Cooper
