[Killietalk] New and Rare

All,

We here at NW Killies are proud to take on the challenge of running the
New and Rare Species committee for you, and "do our part" to support the
AKA. Central to our mission here will be to concentrate on finding and
distributing the truly rare and unusual. As Edd has mentioned we have a
listing online in the Classifieds section of the AKA website. Here is a
direct quote from the BNL version of this same listing:

"This listing will be presented both on the AKA Website and in the BNL
simultaneously, and all orders will be held until the 20th day of the
month to give everyone an equal chance at participating. When orders
exceed available fish, a lottery system will be used to determine
recipients, and those people will be contacted either via email or by
phone to confirm payment for fish and shipping requirements. Express
mail only (or equivalent) for live delivery guarantee. Please specify
preferred shipping method @ time of order. Paypal,
check, M.O. all accepted. All fish are Captive Bred, young, but sexable
& available in LTD quantities. The contact #'s shown above are also my
business lines, so feel free to leave a message in case you miss me.
This will be the last listing for this year. We will return again in
the Spring with some exciting new offerings. Box returns will help keep
this committee operating to serve you."

What I hope this message conveys is that we are committed to serving ALL
members regardless of how they choose to receive this information,
whether via the web or the BNL, and that the fish will be distributed in
an equitable fashion to the person who is willing to pay the costs to
obtain them.

We have contacted several breeders of rare fish, located both overseas
and domestically, we have also contacted importers of wild fish, and
will be working closely with the BOT to find and distribute truly rare
fish wherever we can locate them. Our focus will be on providing QUALITY
fish to you, the members of the AKA, and we will be spending the time
this Winter to get these relationships in place in time for the AKA
Convention and the Spring shipping season.

You may be a breeder of rare fish, but one who would prefer to sell in
quantity and not be bothered with the tedium of boxing up individual
orders and shipping. If that describes you, then please contact me and
let's talk about how to sell your fish AND support your club at one and
the same time. Perhaps you've located a breeder/exporter of some rare
fish overseas, but his or her minimum order is too large for you to
afford. (plus shipping expenses, etc.)Put the purchasing power of the
AKA behind you! Again, I am as close as your keyboard! My import license
is in place and we are ready to do business. We have non-stop flights
from Germany coming here to Portland International Airport on Lufthansa,
bringing the potential for simplifying the receipt of shipments from our
friends in Germany. So if you know of a source in Europe that has a
special fish you are after, one that should be investigated, please let
me know.

This committee is here to serve you. I will welcome everyone's input. I
need all of your good ideas! Help me make the New and Rare Species
Committee a true asset and benefit to your membership in the AKA.

Regards,
