Mine holds much better than that if I don't let any evaporation build up 
scale on it. If that, or other contamination, makes it drift off, I find 
that a good soak in the pH 4 solution (vinegar might work) cleans things up 
and stabilizes it again for a few months.

That sucks!

The best bargain is the pre-mixed and color-coded solutions in pint-size 
bottles. You only need a few cc for each calibration, so the buffers last 
just about as long as a pen does. :-) I never have liked the dry test reagents.

I almost never check my tds meter. If I wanted to, it would be 
easier/cheaper to mix a known strength of grocery-store "No Salt" (KCl) in 
distilled water than to pay for standard solutions.
