RE: A. Geryi - Shyness

I find a lot of new species I acquire show different levels of 'shyness'
and most in time get used to ones personal care schedule. I find feeding
the fish always from the same corner every time aids in getting the fish
used to my schedule.

Recently (4 months ago now) I acquired 18 normani lampeyes and placed
them in a fish tank of their own on my bottom rack. As most will say
bottom rack is the worst for skittish fish. Anyway first few weeks they
all hid behind and in amongst the big mat of java moss at the back of
the tank and only to ventured out after I dropped in food and moved away
from the tank (or sat there without blinking for minutes at a time!!!).
Though now every single one of them swim to the front of the tank every
time there is movement out side of the tanks.

I find majority of killifish get used to movement outside. By the way I
do impose on all my killifish intended and sometimes unintended fasting
days so they are always ready for a feed, egg production is very good
too. I also tend to not move my fish around a lot so there is minimal
chasing them around with my net, therefore giving them nothing to be
scared about. It helps a lot when I need to catch them since they almost
swim into the net thinking there might be food in it!!!

Cheers,

Serkan
