Re: Epiplatys/ Pseudepiplatys annulatus

Hi Eric, One of the ways annulatus can be propogated is by setting them up in
a permanent set up with water sprite, soft water, top lighting, and live food.
What worked for me was leaving the fry accumulate with the parents in the
tank. I did'nt have luck hatching eggs that I picked. What I fed them was
vinegar worms, microworms, and OSI - newly hatched brine shrimp. Since the
fry are pretty small, they most likely ate infusoria present in the tank.
Once the fry showed signs of growth, I transfered them to a plastic shoe box
with an airline for circulation and water sprite. The addition of a small
ramshorn snail is helpful in the rearing tank to consume uneaten food between
water changes. I dont know if the Badis badis will become a problem, but I
probably would keep the annulatus by themselves. It does sound like your set
up is working, so maybe not changing anything is best. If they are producing
eggs and your collecting them, maybe the Badis are eating the fry. Mark
