RE: eggs

Hello All

Now that astaxanthin is being commercially produced in microalgae culture it
is becoming more common in feeds. I've noticed since I've been feeding
Golden pearls (500ppm astaxanthin) more of my eggs are colored. The
Simpsonichthys sp Bahia south eggs are almost red. Some of my Aphyosemion
have gone from clear to tan. It seems to be variable even in a group of
fish.

At work we are seeing the color in zebrafish eggs. We've added Cyclop-eeze
(many times the astaxanthin of Golden pearls) to the dry food mix and now a
group spawning can have eggs ranging from clear to orange. The males are
very easy to sex due to their red fins.

Best Fishes
David
