No, I just leave them to dry out for a few weeks (that generally
takes care of any nasty australe eggs).
Mops make a great scafhold for filter bacteria. They have quite a
large surface area and a nice porous nature allowing good water
movement. I'm thinking of stuffing my box filters with old mops.
