Re: Breeding Nematolebias whitei
Two things:
1. The temperature is way too high. Whitei like
it pretty cool.
2. You may have eggs but not be able to see them.
Although the eggs are quite visible, you have to know
what you are looking for. I have had some peat that
didn't show eggs, but I still got a hatch from them. Don't
throw the peat away.

Hi, folks,
I've been trying to breed the Nematolebias whitei without any success.
I have a male and 5 females in a 5 gallon tank. I use a small flower
pot as a breeding bowl. I filled the pot with peat moss up to a
height
of about 2 inches. The last time I had the pot inside the tank, I saw
the fish going in and out of the pot regularly. Although I couldn't
see
the action taking place, there was obviously plenty of it as there
were
puffs of peat moss coming out from the mouth of the pot. But when I
collected the peat a few days later, I couldn't find a single egg.
The
temperature of the water is about 86 degrees Fahrenheit and the fish
are
almost 4 months old. I feed with nothing but live tubifex worms.
Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?
