Java moss-CO2

If anyone wants to experiment with CO2's impact on Java Moss you can set up a low tech injector for next to nothing. Take a soda bottle, clean it out, drill a hole in the cap and then silicone in a hard piece of tubing about three inches long. Attach flexible tubing to this and put a bubbler at the far end. Then in the soda bottle put sugar, yeast, and water, but keep the level only about a two thirds of the way up. You will have to experiment with the correct amount of sugar but you want to make sure that when it starts to bubble up the bubbles don't enter the tubing. Also make sure that there's no possibility of the brew draining into the tank if a suction develops. If you want to increase the amount of CO2 exchange with the water position a jar over the bubbler. The CO2 will get trapped in the jar and will eventually disolve in the water.

Depending on the size of the soda bottle it will last one to two weeks before it needs to be recharged. You should be able to see if it has an impact on the Java moss within that time frame. I had a heavily planted tank that was doing pretty well but when I added one of these to it, the results where amazing. The plants started pearling up with oxygen bubbles and tripled there growth rate.
