Subject: Java Moss

Well, guys, I will weigh in on this discussion now, though I am quite the
underling here. I have kept java moss quite successfully for a while now
and it has been in Hard Water (KH-7, TDS 200) and in Soft (KH-3, TDS 30)
and basic water (9.0 and up) and acidic water (pH of around 5 to 6.5
(tannic)) and I have never had a problem though I noticed better growth in
neutral water. I guess at a pH around 7 there is a good availability of
nutrients, much like terrestrial plants have the most elements available
at a pH of 6.5 under ideal conditions.

The one thing I don’t do is add salt to my water. Never have, with the
exception of treating Nothobranchius species with table salt (NaCl) for
velvet. But that is rare due to the relatively high TDS of my tap water.
Seems to stave off the velvet.

That is my observation.
