I can see how such a unit would especially be useful if there was a bloom of
something like velvet or ich.
One possible caveat ... will the fishes in such a system be as resistant to
the common diseases as other killies?
A couple of decades ago there was a guy in Chicagoland with a marvelous
central system, run through a swimming pool filter to get rid of the big
stuff and then by the UV unit. He raised industrial quantities of both
australes, blue gularis, "dwarf red" gularis and a couple of Corys. It was
taken as a matter of course that purchased killies from him would, many
times, go through a bout of velvet when acclimated to one's own system. They
would be given a standard salt and acriflavin (Bamiflavin brand
locally)treatment They were fine after that.
