Mixing fry babies
Hi Chris:
Maybe if you're still with us, you have the fish bug but bad.
These hobbyists on the list are very professional and helpful
at giving good solid advice. And you can pick up a lot of ways
to save money. When I first read you had invested $3,000.00
in your tank, I thought how. So I fugured you must have money
to burn. Then you said freight was too high. Maybe so. But that
was not a choice of the killie-talk hobbyists. And some shippers
may have to purchase styro containers. I for one have great
difficulty giving away over a hundred a week. Many will reomburse
you if you return the container. Again that cost is not negotiable.
I raise many fish in styro shipping containers. You may find out how
by getting on ZFIN. Under k-12 you can find my little system of
simply moving the fish ahead of the hatching eggs (primarily
non-adhesive layers). I also use this for moving delicate fish ahead
of the hatching protazoa. I am sure you can find a tropical retailer
that will give you free boxes. Contact me at my e-mail and I'll tell
you how to set up a very inexpensive fish room where boxes work
fine. You could build a room with 32 5gal styro container tanks, a
fan to move air, an air pump, everything for under a hundred bucks.
That is only one thirtieth what you have in that one tank. And once
you have a few pure strain killies, many on this list will be more than
eager to trade. Once cooler, shipping may be only $4. You live in an
area of very moderate temperature. So delivery to you is much less
risky. There are many killie breeders in your area. Plus San Deigo is
a very popular destination for travelers. So in little time you will get
les excited when you get new fish. You'll think Oh my, more stuff to
care for. You decide what type of Killie you should raise. One you
are interested in, and that other hobbyists will desire. Give me a list
of maybe three. I'll get them if I don't have them, and pay the freight
to you. And re-read Barrys' remarks. This is their list. Try hard not to
offend. Many of these hobbyists wish they could spend $3,000.00 on
a fish tank. Let me know what you want. I'm normally here. Not all
here though.
