Mixing Fry(babies) long ramble

Hi Chris,

You won't need a 29 gallon to raise 20 or so gardneri. They don't
need that much space. You could raise all your gardneri when they hatch in
two 10's.
Does your Blue Panchax male look fat? Sometimes if fish are getting
dropsy they will sit on the bottom. But they will look very fat and their
scales look like they are roughed up and sticking out. Chances are that he
was just resting. Why don't you increase the amount of hornwort in your
panchax tank? Really cover the top of the water with it, maybe 3 inches
thick. Try feeding the adults some bloodworms, blackworms or chopped
earthworms to increase egg production in the female. Change half the water
every week or twice a week even and feed some live baby brine shrimp to the
tank every day. I bet you start seeing a few fry in a few weeks. Oh yeah, the
panchax don't need peat moss.
Chris, I know loving and wanting fish so badly gets frustrating at 16.
You want to do so much more than you can -- yet. Try to chill. Get more
tanks, make room for them, get some more books on killies, join the AKA (a
year membership is fine -- better a little bit of membership than none at
all), learn about growing your own (cheap) live food for your fish -- lots of
fun, contact the AKA guys in the San Diego area, get your gardneri eggs
hatched and the fry growing and put those "evil" LOL cichlids in that unused
125 and free up that good killie tank.
