Yes, but it seems to be that an individual pair or group will prefer a color,
but a different pair or group of the same species will prefer a different
color. Moreover, most species prefer Java Moss to any yarn, even green. It
may not be the color but the fine structure that turns them on. Or it may be
that they lay eggs everywhere but can find them easier to eat them on dark
colored yarn or on yarn vs. Java Moss.
