does the heater bother fish?

I have two tanks in my room ( one 10 gallon and one 5 gallon breeding
tank), both with heaters. I've noticed that during the night they
constantly go on and off. Usually 1-2 times a minute (sometimes more).
The heater I have both have pilot lights that go on when the heater is
on. Does the pilot light constantly going on and off during the night
bother the fish? I know it would bother me. What kind of heaters do you
guys use? thanks
