I do think giving them more room will go a long way. First off they
will grow faster and should be able to produce eggs sooner. I would think
they would need to be a little larger before eggs started to be produced. Try
putting them in 10 gallon...I think that will be a good tank size for them
over all. And feed them a lot of frozen and live foods along with weekly or
twice weekly water changes and you will be set.
