If the mountain can't move, perhaps there is a better way for the
masses to get around it. If one can make a change for the better
there could be a way out without the list server looking for more
software.
The biggest problem for an e-mail list server program is handling
many different platforms and many different senders and client side
software. One solution may be a general use of one e-mail client for
the majority of the members of the list in question. One solution
could be the general use of a very powerful and versatile e-mail
client from Qualcom, Eudora. It can be downloaded from
http://www.eudora.com
It is available for both Mac and Windows platforms. It comes
free with adds and for a small charge there is an advertisements free
version. It does not have the bugs and security holes widely
exploited by most hackers and virus builders that MS Outlook has. It
has been around since 1996 and improved since it was developed. It
has a very versatile Mailbox handling section, various e-mail ID
settings and a very deep Online Help section. Setings are easy to put
into place and complete control is straight forward. Oh - the
SPELLING Help is fantastic! It will work on most all dial up ISP's.
Sorry it doesn't interface with AOL. AOL mail sending is a stand
alone application. With Eudora one can receive AOL e-mail or any
other e-mail - you will just have to have a Yahoo or HotMail or what
ever account to send messages out.
If those subscribers who are sincere and want an easy out,
and want to help clean up this Majordomo mess, this is it. Very
clean, short learning curve.
I personally don't know " BAT" but might be interested if you
had a free source for the application.
