I have a 10 gallon with a bunch of 1" and 1 1/2" fish.
Some of the males are clearly visible at this size. I
notice a dark strip at the bottom of the tail and anal
fin first. Color is still weak and those starting to
show color could be males or females.

3", 6" or larger. Conditions like space and food will
definitely affect the ultimate size. I think there are
some strains around that get really big, and some that
are smaller. Same goes for the color. The ones I have
tend to be very blue, yet 4"-5" is all I can get in
size. I have gotten some from other people that under
the same conditions were much larger. I did not like
the color as much though. I tried crossing, and
naturally got the wrong direction. I ended up with a
tank of small drab fish. Would have been nice to get
huge blue fish. Maybe sometime I will have the space
to try the experiment again.
