Potassium permanganate safety
Below is the MSDS for potassium permanganate. It may be considered
hazardous material (in large amounts, 100g +), and regulated more
strictly depending on where you live.
In short, it is a strong oxidizing agent. You don't want to breath in
the dust or get it in your eyes or on your hands. I'd recommend a dust
mask, safety glasses and rubber gloves when handling this chemical. As
for dumping it down the drain...? It will probably become so dilute in
the sewage system that it shouldn't hurt anything, but don't quote me on
that.
