We have almost 1,300,000 liters of salt and fresh water exhibits and more than 5,000 specimens, mainly South American species. Argentario Mediterranean Aquarium, Italy A new aquarium is born on 15 June 2001. It specializes in Mediterranean flora and fauna, about 100 species. Belle Isle Aquarium, Detroit, Michigan The Belle Isle Aquarium is North America's oldest continuously operating public aquarium, having opened in 1904. Virginia Marine Science Museum, Virginia Beach, Virginia The Virginia Marine Science Museum is Virginia's largest aquarium and one of the top ten in the country. With over 800,000 gallons of aquariums and live animal habitats, the museum displays animals common to Virginia's marine and aquatic habitats.
