I've just been though this, after shopping for about 2 years - I wantd
prices to come down a bit. You have to spend $3000 to get a better camera
than the Kodak DC 260/265. You can get a (now closed out) DC260 for
about $500 on eBay.

They take 1500 x 1100 pictures and with a $16 adapter you can use
+7 and +10 close up lenses. All this stuff is available from Kodak.
