Flowering Apon.

I believe I've read that if you submerse the flower on Aponegeaton
(sp?), it will turn into plantlets.  Should I wait until the
inflorescence has opened completely?  It's about half open.  I've had
them flower before, but I usually just cut off the shoot.  I am planning
on starting up another planted tank - small, just ten gallons.  How long
will it take until I can remove the plantlets from the mother tank?
